304 Stainless Steel Anti-siphon Vacuum Breaker with stainless internals and FKM seals & seat. Vacuum Breakers are used to relieve a vacuum pressure from within a system by allowing atmospheric air to enter. Once the system has returned to positive pressure, the seat seals closing off the system to the atmosphere.

  • What is a Vacuum Breaker?

A vacuum means a specific condition in a space filled with a gas whose pressure is lower than the atmospheric pressure. A vacuum breaker is used to break that vacuum when the system pressure drops below atmospheric pressure. This will protect your plant & process equipment against vacuum related damage.

  • How does a Vacuum Breaker work?

A vacuum relief valve is used to allow air into a device or piping and, at the same time, prevent accidents or damage as a result of a negative pressure (Vacuum). A vacuum breaker is like a check valve in reverse, it is designed to stay in the closed position under pressure and open at a predetermined sub-atmospheric pressure to allow atmospheric pressure into the vacuum space equalizing the internal and external pressure.

  • How long will my Vacuum Breaker last?

This really depends upon the environment and the quality of the media that the Vacuum Breaker operates within. With regular checks for correct operation a vacuum breaker should perform for many years. Obviously it must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, maximum operating pressures must be adhered to. If during a check it is found to be faulty it should be cleaned, repaired or replaced as required. This will give the Vacuum Breaker the best opportunity to continually operate satisfactorily for many years.

  • How do I install a Vacuum Breaker?

The vacuum breaker should be installed in a vertical position. It can be installed on any system suffering from non-required vacuum conditions. However, they are most commonly installed on steam temperature controlled systems. On steam systems, the vacuum breaker should be installed at the highest point in the system where it will not be flooded with condensate. This assists with condensate removal and accurate temperature control and avoids reverse flow/suckback.

  • What are typical uses of a Vacuum Breaker?

Vacuum Breakers are used to relieve vacuum pressure from within a system by allowing atmospheric air to enter. Once the system has returned to positive pressure, the seat seals, closing off the system to the atmosphere. Applications include: Steam heating systems, Irrigation systems, Firelines, and other Industrial process fluid systems. Providing protection against vacuum and backsiphonage events. On a closed system such as a tank or heat exchanger, an unintended vacuum can result in the destruction of the tank or Heat exchanger. A Vacuum Breaker could be considered as a safety device similar to a safety valve as it could prevent property damage and loss of production. In steam systems it is most commonly used in modulating/temperature controlled applications. For direct steam injection installation it will prevent reverse flow /suckback of product into the system. For systems fitted with a steam trap it will minimize stall conditions (stall is a condition where the heat transfer space becomes flooded with condensate as a result of insufficient differential pressure).

  • How long will my product take to get to me?

This depends upon where you are based and the freight method chosen. If the express freight option is selected it is usually next day delivery to metropolitan areas in Australia for under 5kg. If free freight has been selected it will go by road freight which can be anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending upon your location. It usually averages 3 days.

  • What warranty do I get?

All of our products come standard with a 12 month warranty. The good news is we have very strict quality controls and all valves leave our warehouse tested and inspected so there are rarely any issues.
