  • What is an Auto Drain Valve?

An Auto Drain Valve also commonly known as a drip leg drain is used in compressed air systems to remove condensate (water) from the air line or receiver. The removal of water increases performance and reduces maintenance on downstream equipment.

  • How does an Auto Drain Valve for Compressed Air work?

Auto Drain Valves should be installed on all low points in airlines, ring maines and/or receivers where water will accumulate. Once the bowl has collected water the float will open the valve to discharge the water in the bowl and then close again once the water has been discharged. The name drip leg drain actually implies that it should be on drip legs which are droppers that come down from a ring main to accumulate and discharge condensate.

  • How do I size an Auto Drain Valve?

The unit is only available in one size, 1/2". A reducing bush or uneven nipple can be used to increase or decrease the port size. The unit itself can cycle as much or as little as necessary so it has a very large discharge capacity.

  • How long will my Compressed Air Auto Drain Valve Last?

The unit has only one moving part so it is very robust. If the air is filtered and free from large contaminants this blow down valve will last decades.

  • How do I install an Auto Drain Valve?

The auto drain must be installed at low points. This can either be at droppers on a ring main/compressed air line or on the bottom of a receiver.

  • What are typical uses of a Compressed Air Auto Drain Valve?

These auto drain valves are used as an automatic water discharge function so they can be used on any application which requires this. This is most commonly on drip legs which are droppers coming off a ring main compressed air line or on the bottom of receivers. These are widely used in all industrial applications from small service industries where a compressor is used to large facilities with pneumatic equipment.

  • How long will my product take to get to me?

This depends upon where you are based and the freight method chosen. If the express freight option is selected it is usually next day delivery to metropolitan areas in Australia for under 5kg. If free freight has been selected it will go by road freight which can be anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending upon your location. It usually averages 3 days.

  • What warranty do I get?

All of our products come standard with a 12 month warranty. The good news is we have very strict quality controls and all Auto Drain Valves leave our warehouse tested and inspected so there are rarely any issues. Also once your Valve is in and operating it will most likely continue to do so for a very long time barring any external factors.
